Mutes are custom-fitted to the dimensions of your bridge and strings. Mutes can be carved and decorated to any design, subject to agreement — see pictures for several examples of custom-made mutes. Mute rests securely between strings above tailpiece when not in use.

Materials

A wide variety of woods are available for mutes e.g. Lignum Vitae, Ebony, Blackwood (Maori Ebony), Cocobolo, American Iron wood, Pink Ebony, etc.

Players using these custom-made mutes have been impressed by the superior sound quality produced, particularly in comparison to rubber mutes.
